Organize Favorites Tab
Toolbar
The buttons in the toolbar perform the following actions:
Insert folder: Adds a new favorite folder.
Insert file: Adds a new favorite file.
Insert submenu: Adds a new submenu to the favorites menu.
Insert separator: Adds a separator to the menu.
Delete: Deletes the selected item.
Edit in Notepad: Opens the JSON menu file in Notepad.
Save & Test: Saves the changes and shows the menu.
Favorites List
The left pane displays your list of favorite folders organized hierarchically. You can right-click on a folder to perform the same editing actions as in the toolbar and drag and drop folders to reorder them.
Adding Folders or Files
Click on the Insert folder or Insert file button in the toolbar to add a new favorite folder or file. You can also drag and drop folders from the file system to the favorites list.
Editing Favorite Folders
The right pane displays the properties of the selected favorite folder or file.
Caption: The display name of the folder or file.
Path: The full path to the folder or file.
Alternative Path: Allows you to specify a secondary path accessible via Shift+Click.
Folder Icon: Allows you to override the default folder icon.
Comment: A comment for the folder or file.
When a menu item is selected, one of two actions is performed:
Open: Navigate the file dialog or file manager to the path specified in the Path field.
Set view: changes file dialog view to Tiles, Details, List, etc.
Sort by: changes file dialog sorting to Name, Size, Date modified, etc.
Show content: Shows the content of the folder as a submenu.
Sort by: sets sorting to Name, Size, or Date modified.
Items: N: limits the number of files shown.
Options Tab
Activation
This section allows you to configure how to activate Direct Folders menus.
Favorites Menu: can be activated via:
Hotkey. The default is Win + /.
Middle mouse button click in file dialogs and file managers.
Double-click on an empty space in file dialogs or file managers.
Recent Menu
The menu can be activated via hotkey. The default is Win + '.
Display
This section allows you to configure the display of the favorites and recent menus.
Number of Recent Items: Adjust the maximum number of recent folders displayed in menus.
Application-Specific Items: Define the number of recent items shown for each application.
Menu Item Length: Set the character limit for menu item names.
Recent Folders Submenu: Enable or disable showing recent folders as a submenu on top of the favorites menu.
File Dialogs
This section allows you to configure the actions performed when a file dialog is opened.
Show Info Panel: Displays an informational panel in file dialogs.
Resize File Dialogs: Enable resizing for file dialogs when the dialog is opened. Use the Set size visually button to adjust dimensions interactively.
Default View: Choose how files are displayed in dialogs (e.g., Details, Icons).
Sorting: Set the default sorting for file lists (e.g., Date Created, Name) and choose between ascending or descending order.
ClickSwitch: Turn on to synchronize the path between the open file dialog and file manager.
Misc
Always On Top: Enable the feature to keep any window on top by right-clicking the close button.
Open Folders In: Choose the default application to open folders, such as Explorer, Directory Opus, or others.
